I was very impressed by the 12 speeds, and how quiet it is. Even my 4 year old likes to play with this one. I would recommend this to every one! It ROCKS!

  2. Dixon Says:

I bought this Sunbeam mainly because I needed a second heavy-duty mixer (my first is a Kitchen Aide) for my second home. Didn’t want to put out a ton of money, so I thought I’d give this one a try. It is really a neat mixer for the money, mixing my favorite fluffy white frosting mix perfectly. The only negative thing I have to say is about the mixing bowls. They are GREAT quality, but too heavy (1/4″ glass bowls). I’m a bit older and they are hard to handle, but this has nothing to do with the quality of the mixer. Long story short, it’s a GREAT buy for the money, and will stand up to any mixing task.

  3. Giang Says:

If you can’t get the kitchen aid standmixer, this is probably the best choice. It’s cheap, strong, and dependable. I’ve used it to cook thick bread dough, naan, cookies, pizzas, you name it. Anything I throw at it comes out very well.

  4. Borchers Says:

I grew up with a Mixmaster and bought one myself many years ago. It performed flawlessly, although I never used the dough hooks or made cookie dough in it - most cookies are better made with a wooden spoon. It is a great mixer, and I don’t feel the need to get a huge expensive Cuisinart for 6 times the price - plus it’s harder to store.
My old mixer is still beautiful and looks brand new, but someone did not make sure the beater was all the way in and both beaters got a little bit bent. My husband fixed them, and it seemed just fine - until I used it and it didn’t sound right. I think the inside where you insert the inside beater is damaged and just not quite holding it right.
Sie la vie. It has served me for many many years and I’ll replace it with another. The whisks might come in handy for egg whites and mousse, although the beaters have worked just fine. I expect it will last as long as my first Mixmaster!

  5. Monohan Says:

This is the little mixer that can. The motor isn’t all that strong, so if you are trying to mix some seriously sticky and thick dough, probably you should pull out a heavy duty machine. This is great for an everyday kind of mixer, whipping up mashed potatoes, a batch of cookies, whipped cream, dips, etc. It’s nice because it’s not that heavy to take out, it can be used as a stand or hand mixer, and it doesn’t take up that much space. I recently purchased this mixmaster again as its predecessor died after nearly a decade of service. The motor didn’t die on the old one, but something snapped in the opening that holds the beaters and one side just wouldn’t stay up anymore. It’s a good product as long as you don’t abuse it and perfect for the average cook.

  6. LaFleur Says:

No matter how hard you try, the tab on the stand that’s supposed to hold the mixer won’t do it’s job, and no amount of wiggling will get it to snap into place. The mixer just falls off the stand.

The mixer itself works really well, but there’s no reason to buy this thing for the stand and bowl.

  7. Geiger Says:

Ordered beaters on Monday night and received them by Thursday worked perfectly with my mixer.

  8. Chiu Says:

We have a fairly old Sunbeam mixer that had one of it’s original beaters missing–not sure where it went, probably got lost in a move. Anyway, the poor thing was occupying valuable kitchen surface area for a long time because, well, it really needed two beaters in it for it to do it’s job. These beaters fit it with no problem, and have been much appreciated. HOWEVER, what kept this from 5 stars is that the beaters are now showing a bit of rust at the bottom after being used a few times and hand washed.

  9. Newsom Says:

Great product, exactly what I was looking for, and arrived at my home before I knew it! Great experience!

  10. Gaffney Says:

I purchased these beaters 6 months ago replacing beaters that were 15 years old because they were beginning to rust. Low and behold, in just 6 months time the new beaters are beginning to rust also.

  11. Eggleston Says:

Received a model #2346 Heritage Mixmaster as a gift and tried it for the first time this morning to make dough. Looks like the gears inside stripped within the first minute. Mixer s/be okay if you need to beat eggs only…………disappointing such poor quality

  12. Gaebel Says:

Purchased this mixer at a close out retail store for just under seventy dollars. It was brand new, not a refurbished unit. I thought even if it lasts only a year at this price, it would be a good deal. I was wrong.

The unit came well packaged, with all of the included accessories. Two stainless mixing bowls, and two sets of hooks - one dough hook set, and set of regular beaters. The chassis is all metal while the stand upon which the bowls rest is chrome painted plastic. The unit is heavy but not so heavy it can’t be manuevered easily. So far so good…..

I used this machine ONE TIME, after which the bowl plate stopped spinning. I did not say I used it for one recipe, I mean, I used it ONE TIME, and the plate stopped working. I tried to make a very light weight egg dough. I only got through step 1, of making the sponge. 1c. flour, 2 pkgs yeast, one cup warm milk, 1/2 cup sugar. That WAS IT. Not a heavy load, not a lot of volume. The unit did not heat up and smell. The unit did not give any indication that the plate would stop working. When I got to step 2, combine 2 egg yolks, 1/4 c. milk, 1/2 c. melted shortening, and 2 cups more flour, I turned on the machine to finish mixing and the bottom plate did not move at all. I finished the recipe by manually moving the bowl around and around (that’s how light the recipe was).

I then set about troubleshooting the unit. I tried to use the smaller bowl, the other hooks, with no luck. Smaller bowl, same hoooks, no dice. I tried turning on the machine with nothing on it, or in it. Nothing doing. I am EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED. This is going right back to the store. I will spend a little more on a mixer that is rated more highly. DO NOT BUY THIS UNIT!!!

  13. Linz Says:

Well..I read the previous reviews and thought the mixer couldn’t be all that bad. I paid attention to those who had bought the “plastic” mixers and how they weren’t stable so I bought the die cast metal. The price was right,it had all the features and size bowl I wanted, and it looks so nice so i thought I’d try it. Well….I used it twice and sadly to say, it’s going back to the store.

The first time I made a batch of oatmeal cookies. Creaming the ingredients was fine, but as soon as I got the flour and oatmeal in the mix, the mixer and bowl started rocking and jerking as the mix hit the beaters. Decided I can’t turn away from that for a second! The second time was a coffee cake batter, smooth & creamy and no rocking this time, but the bowl wouldn’t spin to mix the batter. Plus then I started to get the overheated motor smell.

Not sure what I’ll get now cause I really don’t want to spend $200+ on a mixer, but this one wasn’t it.

  14. Driver Says:

This is a honey if all you want to do is make a simple cake mix. I tried creaming butter and sugar and all it does is sling everything to the sides! Thank goodness I had just bought a Kitchenaid hand mixer, I finished up my cookie dough with that and it handled that with ease! Don’t bother with this one, save up for a Kitchenaid stand mixer, that’s what I’m going to do!!

  15. Feddick Says:

The mixer is cheap and does the job. I do have problems getting it to spin at times. I didn’t want to spend a lot of money and I got what I paid for a cheap mixer.

  16. Nyland Says:

I am very happy with my purchase of this mixmaster. Great buy for the money.

  17. Janzen Says:

I decided to purchase this item after viewing the various models. I use it for cake making and also for bread making. It is beautiful to use and the choice of speeds is encouraging. I purchased a Sunbeam in the ’80s as a gift for a friend and never forgot the brand. What a reliable machine!

  18. Kravitz Says:

I PURCHASED THIS MIXER FOR THE PURPOSE OF USING FOR HEAVY DUTY MIXING JOBS. I MAKE CANDY AS A BUSINESS, AND THIS MIXER DOES NOT STAND UP TO THE TEST. I CAN NOT
EVEN MAKE DIVINITY WITH IT, WHICH IS ONE OF MY BEST SELLERS. THIS CANDY REQUIRES CONSTANT MIXING AT HIGH SPEED FOR APPROXIMATELY 14-16 MINUTES AND THIS MIXER CANNOT HANDLE THE STRESS. IT MAKES LOUD STRAINING NOISES WHEN I TRY TO USE IT. I WISH I HADN’T BOUGHT IT. I NEED SOMETHING MUCH MORE POWERFULL.

  19. Bjorck Says:

VERY NICE HAND MIXER REAL SHARP LOOOKING. I ORDERED IT BECAUSE MY OLD ONE BROKE AND WANTED TO REPLACE IT ASAP. HOWEVER, IF I WOULD HAVE WAITED A LITTLE LONGER I COULD HAVE GOTTEN THE SAME HAND MIXER WITH ADDITIONAL PARTS AT THE SAME PRICE.
