I was given a HeavyDuty KitchenAid mixer but it didn’t have a bowl. I searched eBay and amazon for a bowl that would fit. I found this bowl on amazon. It fits perfectly. It completed my mixer for a great price. I will pick another one up before the next holiday cooking spree.
The time has come to buy a Kitchenaid mixer. It has been worth the wait but which one to buy? You can choose from the Artisan mixer, the Professional series, and the Standard collection. Each has different features depending on your personal needs and choosing can be a bit overwhelming. To make the selection easier, I have put together a quick reference guide to the most popular features.
Tilt Head vs. Bowl Lift
The tilt head is what you’ll find on traditional home use mixers. The head tilts back for adding tools and then tilts forward to fit inside the bowl. These mixers are normally a few pounds lighter and fit easier on the counter due to the smaller height.
The bowl lift is found in more commercial settings. The bowl is lifted up and down by a swing arm while the head stays still. These normally have more power and are better for making harder dough.
Size
How much do you plan on making in your mixing bowl? In general, the more you pay for the mixer the more bread you can make. For example, the basic model costs around $200 and will make 3 ¾ loaves of bread. Compare that to the Artisan series for around $300 that makes 4 ½ loaves, while the Professional series makes 6 ¾ loaves and costs around $400.
Color
The Standard series, while it is less expensive, does not come in as many colors as the other two.
Both the Artisan series and the Professional series come in a variety of colors to match practically any kitchen.
Only the Kitchenaid Artisan comes in pink. A portion of the Cook for the Cure Pink Product series goes to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for breast cancer research.
Thoughts on attachments to Kitchen Aid Professional Plus 5 qt. stand mixer.?
I am giddy over this professional stand mixer mixer, which I just ordered. Has anyone used any of the optional attachments such as the juicer, pasta maker, ice cream maker, etc. and what do you think of the mixer and attachment?

Fast Shipping and great product. It is way more powerful than the Artisan series that I first bought. I would advise spending the extra money and getting this one. It is quieter than expected (about like the Artisan) and performs better. I like the extra features like the slow startup and It has not strained like the Artisan did with pizza dough. I look forward to getting the attachments for grain, meat and pasta.

Why I bought it:
I make a lot of cakes from home.
Pros:
I can make a very big batch of buttercream. I love the options for all of the attachments.
Cons:
It bogs down a little when I really load it up but I haven’t had it quit on me. I have to handwash the attachments because for some reason, the dish detergent crystalizes and sticks to them.

My husband ordered this for me for my birthday in the very lovely caviar. I used this well for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas baking. I made I don’t know how many dozens of cupcakes for my daughters birthday party, several standard cakes for Thanksgiving and roughly a dozen cheesecakes for Thanksgiving with no issues what-so-ever. It cleans very easy, looks wonderful on my counter and as the title states, well worth the wait!

Was forced to buy a new mixer when my Hamilton Beach could not be repaired because it was too old (35 years). I spent a lot of time reviewing all the KitchenAid mixers until I decided I wanted this one. Then looked around for the best price and found it here. I am a casual baker, but have really enjoyed the ease of using this machine. I can easily double and sometimes triple recipes without any trouble. It is heavy, but once I bring it out for use, it stays out for a while, and I find myself using it more. Bought the colbalt blue because I couldn’t find this model in yellow, but I love it just the same.

We have a smaller Kitchen Aid mixer that has been excellent for many years, but just not powerfull enough for dough when we wanted to do many pizzas for a large group. I had been reading about this model and decided to give it a try; WOW what a machine this is. It will take care of a large family get together and just about anything that you would want to mix up in large quantities. Great mixer, would recomend to anyone.

I can’t speak to this exact product, but it was bought to replace one that broke while I was kneading bread in it. Hopefully this one will last longer than that one did. I can’t complain about the mixer; it’s the best I’ve ever owned.
