I LOVE this mixer!! I have wanted a Kitchenaid for so long and I don’t know why I waited! (Well perhaps the cost, but it puts what I used for years to shame) It certainly makes baking more fun… and in half the time!
I purchased this mixer at COSTCO 4 months ago. What got my attention then was the great rebate from KitchenAid - so watch for those. I used it ALOT during the holidays. Made great cookie dough and I am amazed at how fast egg whites whip up. I have mixed meat loaf in it also.(No more gross hands!!) I will be honest and say I have not made any bread dough with it yet, but that’s next.
I do recommend getting a second bowl for the mixer so when you have to mix 2 different parts of a recipe you can just switch out the bowls.
The only CON I see is that you have to stop and scrap the bowl a couple times. You can’t do it while mixing as the way the beater moves and completely mixes throughout the bowl. It mixes ingredients well and none left on the bottom, just the sides.
All in all this is a great mixer and I highly recommend it.
Stand mixers are found in both family kitchens and commercial restaurants, and the Kitchenaid Artisan stand mixer is used by everyone including moms, dads, children, at-home-chefs, and professional chefs in culinary institutes. The reason is simple. It is a high quality product. Because of the company's long history of quality products, many people swear by it and refuse to buy any other brand.
Key Features:
Planetary Rotation – Simply put this is a must in any stand mixer because it means the beaters spin and rotate around the bowl ensuring even mixing.
Tilting Head – This is more convenient for home users since it takes up less space on the counter. The head lifts up to allow the adding of ingredients and changing beaters. If kitchenaid professional hd stand mixer you prefer a mixer that has the bowl lift, pick from the Kitchenaid professional series.
Powerful Motor – A high quality motor will ensure you will not burn it out while making bread or cookie dough.
Weight – When buying a stand mixer weight does matter. If you buy a mixer that is too light it may migrate across your counter when mixing. The Kitchenaid Artisan stand mixer weighs 27 pounds making it heavy enough to be sturdy but still light enough to move.
Locking Mechanism – This feature locks the
tilting head in place so you’ll be sure that it won’t jump back and spray everything in the bowl all over the kitchen. Don’t laugh…well, okay, chuckle a little…I had that happen once with a mixer that didn’t have this feature!
Pouring Shield – While the shield should make adding ingredients such as flour a breeze it can be a bit cumbersome especially when you’re in a tight space. I tend to leave it off..
Versatility – Kitchenaid offers a variety of attachments transforming your stand mixer into many appliances. It can be used as an ice cream maker, a pasta maker, a shredder, a food grinder and so much more. Most of them are easily attached through a screw on the front (no tools required) and utilize the powerful motor.

Does anyone have a KitchenAid Professional 5 Plus?
I just bought one and am wondering if it is really worth the kitchenaid professional hd stand mixer cost (I got mine for $400)? Is there such a thing as "over mixing" with it? Can I just throw all ingredients in the bowl and "mix" or do I have to follow the recipe and mix things seperately? Thanks for your advise!
