This machine is amazing. It makes baking, etc… a breeze. No more hand mixing. It’s a bit loud, but otherwise a good buy.

While purchasing a new kitchen mixer may be exciting, it is often a hard decision. So many kitchen mixers are available, most with remarkable testimonials. So how do you choose which appliance is best for your kitchen? Could a KitchenAid Artisan series be the ideal fit? Here follows some pros and cons of the KitchenAid Artisan mixers.

Advantages of the KitchenAid Artisan Mixer

Big capacity - The 5 quart stainless steel bowl allows many batches to be mixed at once.

Powerful motor - Enjoy making lots of baked goods? The Kitchen Aid Artisan stand mixer can power through recipes having up to 9 cups of all-purpose flour.

Uniform mixing - A ten speed sliding control changes easily between stirring, mixing, and whipping. Since the beaters contact the bowl in 67 places, the ingredients are completely mixed.

Simple clean-up - The nylon-coated attachments and the kitchenaid pro 600 stand mixer stainless steel bowl are dishwasher safe. An included pouring shield keeps the ingredients in the bowl and off the counter.

Expandable - With the purchase of various add-ons, the KitchenAid Artisan series stand mixer can become a complete kitchen machine assisting in various chores such as making ice cream, stuffing sausage, and grinding meat.

Numerous colors availalbe - Color-coordinating your kitchen with a KitchenAid Artisan series stand mixer is effortless with 20 different colors.

Ease of access to the beaters and ingredients - The KitchenAid 5 Quart Artisan stand mixer is the largest capacity tilt-head stand mixer manufactured by KitchenAid.

Fail-safe warranty policy - If there are any problems in the first year, KitchenAid will replace it without any questions, delivering a new Artisan to your doorstep and arranging for the pick-up of the broken one.

Disadvantages of the KitchenAid Artisan Mixer

Space required - Owing to the tilt-head model, the KitchenAid Artisan might be unable to fit beneath your kitchen cabinet during use. Make sure you have adequate space to slide the Artisan forward on the counter when you want to use the mixer.

Insufficient power or size - The Artisan may have too small of a bowl or might not be strong enough to fulfill your needs if you regularly make large batches or use whole grain flours. KitchenAid produces two models with more power: the Pro 5 Plus and the Pro 600.

Less stability for heavier doughs - The bowl-lift machines have greater stabililty when mixing thick recipes than the tilt-head models.

Heavy-duty dough hook unavailable - The KitchenAid Artisan Series ships with a nylon-coated C dough hook rather than the PowerKnead dough hook available in the Pro 5 Plus or Pro 600 models.

Why I bought it:
I make a lot of cakes from home.

Pros:
I can make a very big batch of buttercream. I love the options for all of the attachments.

Cons:
It bogs down a little when I really load it up but I haven’t had it quit on me. I have to handwash the attachments because for some reason, the dish detergent crystalizes and sticks to them.

Fast Shipping and great product. It is way more powerful than the Artisan series that I first bought. I would advise spending the extra money and getting this one. It is quieter than expected (about like the Artisan) and performs better. I like the extra features like the slow startup and It has not strained like the Artisan did with pizza dough. I look forward to getting the attachments for grain, meat and pasta.

You will have this for life. Has wonderful attachments and makes cooking particularly baking easier and with fabulous and consistent results.

My husband ordered this for me for my birthday in the very lovely caviar. I used this well for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas baking. I made I don’t know how many dozens of cupcakes for my daughters birthday party, several standard cakes for Thanksgiving and roughly a dozen cheesecakes for Thanksgiving with no issues what-so-ever. It cleans very easy, looks wonderful on my counter and as the title states, well worth the wait!

These decals are really heavy and the graphics are crisp. I have received many compliments on my enhanced mixer; even a bit of envy.

The one problem I did have on the application was *static* The over-sheet on which the decal were attached & aligned wanted to stick far quicker than I had expected. I had to reposition several of the decals because of this. One they were firmly in place, there is no moving them.

OK, here’s the gift for the cook who has everything. I have a white Kitchenaid mixer. I love it, but it looks like everyone’s mixer. Not anymore. I saw Alton Brown’s mixer on Good Eats one night, googled, and found FlameKA.com. Then I comparison shopped–basically everyone is charging the same price.

I got this one because it looked different from the flames. Also, my husband is a WWII buff, and he got a kick out of this set.

These decals are very heavy duty and thick. Easy to put on, and they’re not coming off easily. The instructions provided are fine, but this is so easy you don’t need much in the way of instructions.

FlameKA ships fast and isn’t a big ripoff for shipping charges.

I know it seems like a lot of money to decorate a mixer, but I am going to have this mixer for a very long time, so break the cost down to a monthly cost, or something that will make you feel better. I spent a lot of money on the mixer, so why not a few more bucks making it special?

Ok, so I did not buy this. However there are a few historical issues with calling this a 1942 Navy sticker set.

- The Flying Tigers were originally an American volunteer and later a U.S. Army Air Force unit flying out of China, not a U.S. Navy squadron.

- The red horizontal stripe in the national insignia was not added until 1947. No US aircraft during WWII had these stripes in their insignia.

If sticking with the US Navy theme, probably better off calling this a VF-111 Sundowners F-4B decal sticker, circa 1972. Otherwise an A-10 of the USAF 23rd Fighter Group is more (but not completely) accurate.

Buyer beware, should you be cornered by a military nerd!

This item is just plain fun and easy to apply. Makes me wish I had more KitchenAids to put on some of the other designs they have. I might get one of the other designs and put it on my bread maker.

Decal was the perfect size for my 4.5 quart mixer. Sellers description was very informative and item was received quickly.

This decal itself is made well, though I would appreciate some more instructions and tips on applying it to my kitchenaid. I put it on too close to the front curve and it wrinkled up in the front, so I tried taking it off and of course the adhesive didn’t work as well. Then I bought a bottle of spray adhesive to fix it and must not have been slow enough peeling it off and it ripped this ugly jagged tear. So I stopped totally and have resigned myself to leaving it on and smoothing down the edges EVERY SINGLE DAY. I have 5 kids and plenty else to do as we just moved across the country, so I have yet to carefully peel it off and attempt to get my money back. I would like to try again, but I’m afraid if I damage it further, I am out the 20 bucks+ that I paid, and I’d rather have it on than not. Sad, huh?
It’s worth the money b/c you can’t find anything like the flames anywhere else, but if you want turtles or something like those white decals you put in car windows from Wal-Mart or wherever, you could get those cheaper or the same price. If you do buy it, go slow and don’t try to make it curve over the front unless you plan well and overlap it slowly. And get some spray adhesive to strengthen it.
Overall, I’d try one more time (when I get the time), and call my problems me being impatient, but I stand by the need for better directions.

What more can I say? Just what I wanted, but way to expensive for a few pieces of cling plastic. My KitchenAid if very happy to be dressed up!

Ingersoll July 7, 2010 at 1:46 pm

I have had this for 3 years and it still gets great comments. It has delaminated a bit where the clear outer layer has pulled up from the colored layer beneath it, but seems stable for now. It is NOT peeling off the mixer.

I may have to replace with a new set (maybe the plane decal set?) in a little while.

It is expensive, but less expensive and a lot more fun than a silly, girly-looking quilted cover. It all depends whose mixer it is in the family. This one is mine.
