which food processor to buy?
i'm looking at kitchenaid 12 cup, but i read reviews that it leaks badly with liquids, also looking ad wolfgang puck, but that one has a lot of broken units somehow, the farberware looks kitchenaid 12 speed stand mixer like the puck one an awfull lot, wondering if it is the same... i don't need to knead, i want a machine that has lots of power for grinding cheese and bread for crumbs, and for liquid things (eggs, etc) crushing ice maybe and most of all to deliver even chopping without mashing stuff, i like the feature of adjustable slicing. please - i have to make a decision today.... can you give me your experience/advice?

I purchased the set to add to my existing disks mostly because of julienne disk and to save the money (purchasing separately costs about $24.00 in average).I’m greatly disappointed with julienne disk which creates total mess. When I used it for zucchinis I thought well it’s because it’s too soft, but carrots were even messier. It looked worse than just simple grating. It wasn’t uniform in size (some sort of little tiny sticks along with fine shredding) I was looking for long uniform matchsticks. I’m still looking for julienne device which would produce fine long pieces with minimal waste.Any suggesting greatly appreciated

I bought this mostly for the french fry cutter. I’m very happy with how the french fries come out. My kids love the taste of fresh french fries. I’ve seen reviews on this before, commenting on how small the fries are. That is a problem with the size of the opening in the cover, but since that can’t be controlled, I’m more than satisfied with the size of the fries. As far as the other discs, I’m still learning to use the food processor so I haven’t used them much. They seem mostly to be thicker or thinner versions of slicers I already have, but I’m sure I’ll see the need as I do more “processing.” I just wish I had a nice case for all of these.
I love having the smaller bowl for mincing garlic, ginger, jalapenos, etc. My only complaint is that the large bowl doesn’t seal well and when we tried to puree a soup it turned into a pretty big mess.
This unit is sturdy and well made, but I’ve got a few strong likes and dislikes related to it.
One of the things I like about it is the small insert bowl. It is really useful when you are dealing with small quantities and pretty much painless to clean. The base unit is also nicely sealed and easy to clean.
Among the things I dislike somewhat are the poor liquid capacity of the main bowl. You can’t have more than a couple of inches of liquid it because of the design of the collar. I’ve also found it useless for slicing.
My biggest dislike though is the lack of speed (in RPM.) If you are trying to chop something that you really want cut up (barley groats for instance) this unit won’t even damage them, much less chop them up. The blades revolve so slowly that small items are just moved out of the way, rather than being chopped.
Certainly an improvement from what i was using for the past 20 years! Easy to use too.
I recently received my food processor to both upgrade and replace my old one that was SO loud when in use! This one is great! Very quiet, no need for earplugs! It worked great for making pie dough and making tomato puree.
After the 1-year warranty expired, the bowl and lid started cracking all over, until I now have to replace it because the handle started detaching. The center stem is way too short which gives it much smaller capacity than 12 cups. When putting the bowl through the dishwasher, moisture and dirt remain in the hollow handle–why would the handle not be sealed?
Much easier to clean than my old Cuisinart. I like the egg whip, multiple bowls and juicer. My only complaint is that, when shredding potatoes, the ends will not go through the shredder. They just whirl around on the top of the disc. I don’t recall if I had this problem with my Cuisinart because the stem broke shortly after I started using it. Customer Service is great. I used the chopping blade with the medium bowl and scratched it badly. They replaced it right away even though it was my fault. Google for Kitchen Aid rebates. They seem to have them all the time. This processor, less rebate and special $[...] rebate on special magazine Amazon offer, cost less than the lower model at Bed, Bath and Beyond and included whip and juicer. And, I got free shipping and fast delivery from Amazon.
Grating taro and cabbage and carrots is instantaneous with this product. Mixing awkward sticky doughs is much tidier in this machine. The attachments include a citrus juicer. You need counter space to encourage you to use this product but if you want to cook traditional Chinese food, this will make your tasks easier.
This is a great product. Very easy to use and easy to clean. I highly recommend it. So much better than my old Cuisinart.
I agree with the extensively written review “An Expensive Disappointment.” You cannot put liquids in this unit, not even small amounts. One would assume liquids are OK since the device has a “liquid fill line,” but customer service confirms that the device is not designed for liquids. The lid fits over the outside of the bowl and leaks a huge amount once the blade throws the liquid up against the sides of the bowl. I originally liked the 3-bowl design, but the blades only fit the large and small bowls. The instructions tell you that the middle sized bowl is for slicing discs only. I tried making mayo and ended up with a puddle of oil in the center near the blade. The same problem happens with any food, ending up with chunks hiding near the blade in the center. Not very well designed device.
It feels very nice, well made, and looks pretty and not too heavy. For the price paid, I consider this to be a very good bargain.
For years we’ve searched for a set of cooking pans that work for normal lifestyles. We are neither chefs nor TV dinner warmer-uppers – just a family that likes to scramble an egg in the morning, boil soup at lunch, and occasionally stir up something more ambitious. We researched cookware. High end was too high, and the end cap pots didn’t hold up to our neglectful washing and storage. These seem a good compromise, are put together well, and so far delivering on the promise of quality. They look good hanging from the rack, too.
I love the entire set. Various sizes and cleans in a snap! My only concern is that the lid handles arent completely coated in silicone so if you touch the metal on either side (big hands) you can get burned.
This is the my first purchase of what I would consider an “upper end” of cookware. I just bought a house and wanted a set of pots and pans that would last and not need replaced after 6 months. I don’t see that happening and every time I used them I feel content and happy that I got such a good deal on such a great set of cookware.
Construction is great, easy to clean and they look great..!

This is the second set I have bought – I liked the first so much I bought more. I’ve had the first set for 2 years and they still look great. Cooking and clean up are a breeze.
