As others have said, this cheap plastic stuffing attachment is more trouble than it’s worth. After an hour of struggling with it I gave up and stuffed the sausage by hand.

The grinder tool worked great but I definitely don’t recommend the stuffer. If it had cost more than the $10 I paid for it I would have asked for my money back.

Which Kitchen Aid attachment (paddle or whisk) do you use to make pie dough?
According to the directions that came with my Kitchen Aid mixer, I should use the flat paddle kitchen aid ksm500pswh to make my pie dough. However, I have also read that the wire whisk cuts the shortening into the flour better. I have always made my pie dough by hand, cutting the shortening into the flour with a pastry blender. But I want to try it with my mixer. Which attachment do you use? Do you reccommend the mixer over the old fashion method?

I’m giving this 5-stars because the product itself is fantastic. But this is NOT a 5-quart bowl. It is 4 1/2 quart. They have changed it since I let them know of the error, but it is still showing up in a 5-quart search.

THIS IS A 4 1/2 QUART BOWL. NOT 5-quart!

I have had a KitchenAid mixer for over 25 years. It is a wonderful machine, well made, versatile and easy to clean. The only flaw was the bowl, which is sometimes hard to handle when it is full. With the addition of this handled bowl, this product is about as perfect as a mixer can get. While the cost may seem a bit pricey, Amazon had the best price (it was $49.99 at Best Buy) and the bowl is well made and SO much easier to use and pour with a handle. Just be sure you match this accessory to your mixer model number. There are at least two different model sizes, and there is a handled bowl that fits each of them. You can call Kitchenaid and ask; they will gladly tell you the part number.

I love having more than one KitchenAid bowl, and I LOVE having one with a handle!! I was very disappointed when the bowl my KitchenAid mixer came with had no handle, so it wasn’t long before I was buying one with this feature. It’s invaluable when scraping or pouring the contents of the bowl. Sucks that it’s so expensive for a bowl, but it’s worth it. It’s shiny, too!

This is a great product. Much better and easier to use than the original bowl.I don’t know why they don’t make all of the bowls with handles.

An utterly worthless product. This device was incapable of slicing anything, and the shredder attachment was able to shred about 2 cups of carrots before jamming, bending the drive shaft, and causing an alarming click in the drive of the mixer itself. KitchenAid support was great; sent me a new mixer right away. They offered to replace the shredder, but I told them not to bother, and returned mine to the store to get my money back.

If you’re looking for a slicer/shredder, you’re better off with the KitchenAid food processor. I picked up one of those and couldn’t be more thrilled.

I’ve used this only once to shred cabbage. It did a great job of making tiny shreds, but the unit and cone was so hard for me to attach and I don’t think it’s very safe. At least, I’m not very comfortable using it. I love my kitchenaid artisan stand mixer, but don’t think I’ll be buying any more of the attachments when there are so many other products that are less expensive and look to be easier to use. I’ll probably sell this attachment set and get a mandolin.

I’m happily married to an Italian gourmet. That’s the upside. The down side is that grating our own very hard imported cheeses (parmaesan and romano) can be hard on the plastic body of the shredder. No worries, every 3-4 years we purchase another and grate more. The freshly grated cheeses are so worth it, and were we not grating so much, so often, I’m sure one would have lasted a lifetime. Yes I know KitchenAid used to make a metal body, and I picked one of the oldies up from eBay, but they impart a bit of a coloration and metallic flavor to the cheese, so back to plastic we went.

We are longtime users of KitchenAid equipment and have not bin dissapointed with any of their products. In A home envirment they are tops.
They are strong, steady, dependable, and ready to go at A moments notice.
Cleanup is A breeze, all removable parts are dishwasher safe.
If KitchenAid makes it, buy it.

I use my grinder occasionally. In general, I might grind up a pork butt or some sirloin or a roast. This grinder is great for that!
I learned quickly to cut my meat up in smallish chunks. It took me maybe 15-20 minutes to really get the hang of it, as I’ve never done anything like grind meat before. Once I got a ‘feel’ for it, it because very quick and easy.
I quickly lost that wooden stomper, but the end of my french rolling pin works great for it. I am pretty sure it is paying for itself – I’m making great tasting lean, wholesome sausage for half the price of the cheap stuff. Takes hamburgers to a whole never level, and now I can grind meats that are not available in my small town grocery stores. I wish I’d bought one years ago.

My wife wanted me to buy a food grinder for the Kitchen Aid Mixer I got her for Christmas. I couldn’t see paying what the Kitchen Aid site wanted for it so I looked on Amazon and this one was for sale. It said it was used. It came in the Original Box with all the original packaging and even the warranty card. IF it was ever put on the machine you can not tell it. It works excellent. We used it to make Cranberry Relish to freeze and I am very thankful we got it. I use to be the motor for the hand grinder.

I love this product. I was going to buy a manual grinder because my mother used to have one, but I decide to get the attachment instead. I have a Vita Mix and I grinded meat once and the cleaning process was so painful. With The Kitchen Aid it is so easy, just get all parts apart and wash it. and it is so fast. Very happy with my purchase.

A must if you have a KitchenAid Mixer … you can make bread crumbs, nuts, grind your own ground beef and sausage … I have used this a great deal and extends the use of the mixer. The only thing that I would change or add, would be a larger tray.

I am not really sure how people are using there beaters. First this beater is Nylon coated NOT enamel.

I need to order a new one because I misused mine, the bowl was not seated correctly in my stand and it jammed the beater (the mixer was on high at time) causing some of the coating to come off. I have had my stand mixer for over 10 years and never has the coating on the beater just flaked off, I put it in the dishwasher never any problems. My parents Kitchen Aid is over 35 years old, they are still using there original Nylon coated beater, again no problems.

In case your not sure which beater to buy: The one that looks like captain Hooks hand, is a dough beater, for breads and pastas the flat beater is for batters like cakes and cookies softer doughs. The whip is used for making whipped cream or meringue (whipped egg whites) or when a recipes says to whisk something.

I hope this was helpful to you.

This was the cheapest place to get this flat beater, even after the postage was added.

Elgin June 2, 2010 at 11:02 am

I ordered the wrong size beater and they exchanged for the right one No hassel just sent the wrong one back and a couple days later I recieved the right one.
