My wife says she love this processor very much. She is in the plans to do some canning of caribean cooking paste & this machine cuts her prep time in half.

Tips on preparing a stoneware slow cooker before its first use?
I was gifted a Hamilton Beach Meal MakerĀ® 5 Quart Slow Cooker:http://www.hamiltonbeach.com/5-quart-slow-cookers-meal-maker-5-quart-slow-cooker.htmlAside hamiltonbeach mixer from washing it out, is there anything I should to prepare the stoneware before its first use, e.g. should I rub the inside with vegetable oil and then turn it on for a while? I'm totally new to slow cookers / crock pots . . . thanks in advance for any tips.

This was a terrible product. The motor burned up on the 2nd use. Would never recomend this product.

Were do i begin. Well for one the description for the product is majorly lacking, this is made out of PLASTIC. It has no power to it ,and i really don’t understand why this is even on the market.Do not bother buying this ,you can’t even make one shake with it.

So I needed a mixer for protein drinks. Blenders are too big and hand mixers are not perfect. I was going to get a Magic Bullet, but I saw the Hamilton Beach Milkshake mixer at Vanity Fair on sale for $19.99. One was on display so I was able to look at it before buying. I saw that it was chrome plastic so I wasn’t surprised as if I didn’t see it first and was expecting metal. For $19.99 this was well worth it. How does it work? It works perfect for me, turning my protein drink into a smooth, delicous shake. It gets a thick texture that I just can’t get with blenders or hand mixers. It also has 2 speeds and the second speed is pretty powerful. As long as it lasts I am very happy, and it looks cool in the kitchen too. So it’s not a big heavy metal mixer, but for the price it is very nice and works. Also very easy to clean.

I bought it as a gift for my nephew he loves and uses it everyday.

I loved my old Sunbeam mixer but after 40 years it gave out. The new Halmilton Beach Eclectrics Stand Mixer is sturdy and quiet. I’ve only had it a short while, but it appears to have plenty of power for my recipes. I like the slow mixing action that rotates the paddle around the bowl. It has a nice style for my kitchen and it seems sturdy.
Good value for the money(we had shopped on-line and in stores for a couple weeks).

The two things I don’t like about it are that it’s impossible to scrape the side of the bowl without removing it from the base (my old Sunbeam could do this) and it takes two hands to flip up the mixer head from the bowl.

The plastic thing that is supposed to make it easier to add product is highly overrated. Also the splatter guard gets in the way when you are trying to scrape the sides of the bowl. Throw them away and you have a great mixer.

I really enjoy using this mixer. It has enough power and is not loud at all. Easy to use. Love it!!

I bought this mixer as my first Amazon purchase in 2006. (I am not going back to review my items, ha)

I still use this mixer to this day. I make pizza dough almost weekly in here for pizza’s and garlic knots.

This mixer has not given my one ounce of problems. Cakes, whipped cream, batter, you name it, I have mixed it in here.

I even had a hand problem a year or so back where I was in a cast for a few weeks, and I used this thing to mix my home made meatballs.

I am starting to outgrow this mixer though, I am growing in my cooking, and want to start making my own pasta and sausages. Without the attachment on the front, I am starting to lok toward Kitchen Aid.

This is a great alternative to a Kitchen Aid if you don’t want to spend the money. Motor is just as strong, and the mixer spins the same. It gets the sides pretty well.

4 stars are for a great product, but I am starting to miss the attachment option.

I’ve had this blender for 3 years now and it is finally going out on me. Shouldn’t a blender last more than 3 years??? The one I had before it (Oster brand) was more than 20 years old before its motor ran out. This blender works great at making mixed drinks but it is not very good at smoothies….I still get chunks of fruit in my smoothies! Plus, when I use it I smell an electrical smell which is what happened to my old blender just before the motor burned out. I noticed this morning after I used it that the seal at the bottom of the pitcher is not good anymore because I had smoothie coming out of it. It is very cheap so I guess you get what you pay for.

I wasn’t going to write about this product but I saw another reviewer mention the electrical or burnt plastic/rubber smell. I noticed that as well and wanted to inform potential customers about this issue.

I originally purchased this from a nearby store for a good price. The glass jar was large and sturdy. The based of this glass fit in nicely to the motor so there’s no worry about slippage or such.

We made two smoothies with this machine and it broke large ice cubes with no problem. The drinks were consistent and well blended.

The major issue we had was the electrical smell. It happened the first time we used it as well as the second time. I didn’t think this is regular at all and rather than take a risk of it breaking down or causing a fire I returned it from where I purchased it.

I bought this Hamilton Beach Blender 2 months aso and it works perfectly for me.The glass jar is good quality so I stopped to worry about blending hot soups that can broke the plastic jar.I’m so happy with my purchase.

The gasket that seals the blade base to the pitcher absorbs odors very easily. I pureed soup in this once, and cannot get the smell out of it. It appears that most all Hamilton Beach and Proctor Silex blenders use the same blade base (except one model, per Hamilton Beach’s Web site), so this problem is not unique to this particular model. These consumer models are not NSF-certified (per NSF International’s certified products database), nor do I expect that they would be certifiable given their odor-absorbing quality.

The picture for this particular model is also misleading… there is no way this blender could blend a drink when its pitcher is that full.

I have an older model of this food processor. Let me tell you, one time after using it a screw in the lid stripped itself out while powered on and ruined the lid. I called the company and was greeted by a horrendously incompetent worker who refused to help me. I told her it was a wedding gift at the beginning of the conversation.

At the end of the conversation, when she refused to help me in any way, I told her that I will never buy Hamilton Beach again. “I thought you said it was a gift anyway?” was her response.

Mine? “I’m in my twenties. Do you really think this is going to be the last appliance I ever own?”

I HAVE NOT bought any of their products since, and if someone doesn’t know better and buys when for me, I promptly return it to the store for a different brand. Even if I like the layout or color of the HB better!

(By the way–did try again after that, thinking maybe I got a crabby CS rep–the next one was equally as unhelpful and rude!)

I have had this for 1.5 years, and the plastic spindle has cracked in many places. I can’t even grate cheese now. Will be moving to something made out of less plastic.

DeLeon June 16, 2010 at 12:14 pm

I didn’t purchase mine at Amazon, but since I’m now looking for a new food processor (and it came up), I thought I’d tell you the good the bad and the ugly about this machine. Yes the price is low and there is a reason for that. The machine comes with several blades and that is swell, however your machine is not strong enough to do much in it. I have a bread recipe that makes 1 loaf, this machine will do it, however, it smells like the machine is on fire when I attempt to do so. The dough ends up inside the metal blade somehow and that is a huge pain to try to clean. I also use quite a bit of cheese and sometimes, I don’t have the time to shread it myself. This handy-dandy food processor can grate part of the cheese and the other part ends up sticking to the top of the shreader blade. I end up getting a little shreaded cheese (Yes, I sliced the cheese to make it easier on the processor)and the rest is just a liquified version of cheese. The shreader blade is alot of work to get clean after that. It’s fine for someone who doesn’t use it much, provided that the items you are attempting to process are pre-chopped by hand first. This kind of defeats the purpose of a food processor in my book. So, my friends, I’m moving on to something bigger, badder and better!

I have had this processor for almost 2 years and use it constantly. I bought it to do baby food for my second child and have found numerous uses for it. It processed the food I made well, but it was not a silky-smooth texture without adding a lot of extra liquid. For that purpose, I typically make chunkier purees, adding extra liquid to the frozen cubes upon reheating. That way I could make large batches of baby food that ‘grew’ with my child once she was out of the ‘stage 1′ foods. Now off the rabbit trail…

I use my processor to make pie dough, huge batches of cookies, hummus, salsa….pretty much anything. It is super easy to clean and has performed well for these two years with near-daily use. It IS a monster to store, but for me it was worth creating a space for it because I use mine so much. I would say it’s footprint is *about* the size of my KitchenAid Classic mixer.

It’s an excellent product at an excellent price :)

Wow! Great food processor! I’m thrilled with its performance. I had no difficulty with the suction cups, they stick, but not too much. I resisted buying one for years. Happy with the bonus blade as well. It is now a ktichen staple in my house!

I love this product so much that I had to search for it on a couple different websites to tell people how great it is. My husband got it for me for my birthday because I had talked about getting one since we got married three years ago. I used ot to mix the ingredients of a pie crust for chicken pot pie, and it mixed everything perfectly. Then I put all the attachments into the dishwasher and ended up dirtying only one dish rather than the ten I used to dirty while making this crust. It was so easy that I am considering making more crusts to freeze for a quick use later. I love this product. I have now owned it for about three months and have had no mechanical problems either.
