I’m pretty new to the mixer but I like it so far. It is quiet, it seems to be quite sturdy, and it looks good sitting on the counter. I wish the head release was more accessible. The release ‘button’ is located in the back and it is flush with adjoining surfaces. I also wish the head would swivel to the side thereby providing better or more ‘open’ access to the mixing bowl. Otherwise it’s great and I would recommend it to anyone.

I purchased this machine cause at the time I could not afford a Kitchen Aid. This machine is ideal for mixing frosting made with vegetable shortening as this can become stiff and put strain on your regular mixer motor (I can testify I lost two hand mixers). The other attachments has proven to be useful as well, I used the dough hook to make fondant and was satisfied with the results. I appreciate the fact the mixer is quiet and I mean quiet it does not disturb anyone while I work, clean up is easy as well. The thing that dissapointed me with this product is that it does not have any further attachments,eg. pasta machine etc. But overall I would recommend this product.

A new addition to our kitchen, we are VERY impressed with the performance of this mixer. It’s extremely quiet, and the very large motor has plenty of power for just about anything. For years, KitchenAid was the only choice in the large mixer market, but since they started making all of them overseas, quality just isn’t there, anymore. In fact, we started out with a KitchenAid, and decided to return it to the store where purchased.

The Hamilton Beach 63220 Mixer will not let you down. It is a breeze to operate. It is quite heavy duty, being about the same size as most of the smaller model KitchenAid models. Plan accordingly for storage.

This model has remained essentially unchanged for a few years now. My unit was manufactured in Canada. I feel more confident about quality than I ever would from the current KitchenAid models.

Hi,

After searching in internet, reading numerous reviews, and checking with Consumer Reports and BBB, I changed my mind getting KitchenAid and switched to Hamilton Beach Stand Mixer. I have it now, I purchased it in a store. It has great features for 4.5 qt: 400 watt, 12 speeds, all metal made, and 3 year warranty!!! comparing 1 year in KitchenAid with 10 speeds and 250 watt for 4.5 qt.
I am very pleased with Hamilton’s QUIET performance even at the higher speed. It’s in fact quieter than my hand mixer and has a friendly sound. I didn’t scrape any single time when making the 3.5 c dough.

It’s slightly bigger than KitchenAid, about 1 inch higher, but it’s somehow lighter and easy to move on counter. Easy to use, the head tilts back by pressing back button smoothly. The bowl sits reliably.

I am endlessly happy that I got Hamilton instead of KitchenAid.

This is the best stand mixer so far!!! Even if it more expensive than KitchenAid, I would still get Hamilton Beach.

This product is a great buy. It is cheaper than the KitchenAid brand, but is just as good, if not better. The three year warranty gives you peace of mind much more than the one year warranty offered by KitchenAid. My husband and I went back and forth on whether or not we would purchase a stand mixer because he didn’t think we needed it, but I knew I would use it. Since purchase I’ve used it a couple of times a week or more, it is very handy, easy to use, and works wonderfully. I have no reservations about recommending this product to anyone!

I received this as a gift and had my suspicions from the beginning. It mixes adequately with the regular paddles. The dough hooks do not work well. Even when following the mixer’s directions to a T, I couldn’t get cookie dough or bread dough to mix evenly. Two dough hooks doesn’t make sense to me in the first place. I haven’t used the whisk, but I’m sure it’s fine. It’s hard to mess that up. I do like that the top is removable. However, it isn’t needed since you can pretty much use any bowl with the stand. There is no locking mechanism. This also causes spinning if you don’t hold the bowl still. I also think that the speed starts out too fast. I like a slower speed when adding dry ingredients, so they don’t poof everywhere. I’m sure you would get the same effect, except a slosh, when making whipped cream. My advice is to either buy a cheap hand mixer, which is exactly what this is, or buy a real mixer.

I got this mixer one year ago and it was nice while it lasted. The adjustable bottom was useful to mix the batch evenly. I’ve made a few batches of cookies, brownies and bread, however, it broke in about 9 months. I probably used this less than 10 times. i haven’t dropped it and it was working when i had last put it away so it seems the motor just died for no reason. There is no warranty so buyer beware.

I first have to say that I’ve only used it once, but it didn’t mix well at all no matter how much I adjusted the bowl. I turned it myself because it wouldn’t turn on its own while making pudding. It mixed well when I took it off of the base and use it as a hand mixer. However, it is difficult to remove and put back on the base. It seems very sturdy and I also got in on black friday for $25 so I think I got a deal. However, I don’t think it is worth the regular price either.

I bought this mixer more than three months ago and hoped I would find something a few levels above what’s typical at outlet stores, something of a high quality. Its not perfect but definitely the quality you’d want in a mixer. I’ve made four cakes and two pies to date with this mixer and can tell you there is nothing “flimsy” about it. Getting down to the business of it: the bowl you receive is designed to fit perfectly on the movable stand but does not give your beaters the best access to the bottom sides of the bowl due to an odd ridge in the bowl itself. Simple fix: use a spatula. Problem solved, seriously. The six speeds feel more like 3 with the “high” “medium” and “low” each having a step-up before its speed. You really don’t even need six speeds but its nice to have that control. Because the stand rotates the bowl can turn by itself. Its hard to say why it does this but you won’t find it as a huge issue. I’ve heard someone else complain about gaps in the grate of the mixer or it being hard to go from the stand to your hand or this, that, and the other. I’m no food gadget geek, just a guy who needs to bake a cake once or twice every couple of months, and I used this thing with little difficulty (just takes a little getting used to).

Bottom line: you want a mixer that can do it all? Have $300 ready. Want a mixer that looks nice in the kitchen, looks professional, has a nice amount of power, won’t give you an issue while making a cake, and simply gets the job done? Then this mixer shouldn’t do too badly. There’s a slight learning curve but I’m never deterred from making my favorite recipes with this mixer. There’s nothing wrong with it, it won’t fall apart as you take it out of the box, no right-off-the-bat noticeable flaws, nothing that’ll make you feel like you just wasted your money. I’ve really come to enjoy it and would only consider buying a heavy duty one as my next mixer.

Buyer’s note: there appears to be the exact same mixer on the “hamilton beach mixer” page for only [...] bucks. $[...] is fair but you’d practically HAVE to buy it at $[...] (if that’s not some sort of typo).
