After admiring KA mixers for years, I finally got the opportunity to purchase a mixer. I did my usual exhaustive review process before making a decision on which model to get. I was surprized to find that KA is not what it once was- there was no consistently reliable model. After reading glowing reviews of the Cuisinart, I decided to give it a try. In addition to Amazon’s great price, there was a free food processor deal as well. That definitely helped make my decision easier!

I absolutely love the Cuisinart mixer. It handles all batters and dough without a problem. I’m new to the mixer world, so am also very impressed by the timer you can set and be busy doing other prep work. It’s been about 6 months, but I still haven’t tried the food processor yet- I’ll try to add a review for that later…

Are you looking for a mixer? Well then you must definitely look at the Cuisinart Sm-55 5-1/2-Quart Stand Mixers. So, maybe it is a good idea to look at hat others are saying about the mixer. You need to know if it is really that good and whether it is strong enough for your needs.  So, let’s have a look at it.

1. Is the Cuisinart Sm-55 5-1/2-Quart Stand Mixers really as good as the manufacturer says?

Well, reading the comments on Amazon really convinced me that it is. People really like the appearance of the machine and they love the idea cuisinart sm-55 that it is not as heavy as some. The machine also does not take up as much counter space and is easy to store.

2. Is it strong enough for all my mixing needs?

You will find that users say, when they first saw the machine, they were nervous as it appears small and the paddles look very light. When they start using the machine though, they find that it can mix very well. Steven J. Rickard says he kneads whole wheat bread in it without any trouble. It really looks as though this baker gives his machine hard labor without any trouble!

3. Can it handle small and large quantities?

Amanda Bucko says it kneads dough with the same ease as it mixes icing! What is more, she says, the splashguard prevents a mess when she is making up big batches of butter cream. Well, I do not know if you have had to clean up a mess after mixing a big batch, I have, so I can promise you this is a very big PLUS point for me.

In conclusion, even though I have to admit I have not had one yet, as my old Kenwood is still going strong, the Cuisinart Sm-55 5-1/2-Quart Stand Mixers really looks worth looking at.

Having an extra mixing bowl on hand helps me to enjoy my task without first stopping to clean the bowl. The other plus is that the bowl has two handles which comes in handy for me because I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and can handle this bowl easier.

I am in love with my Cuisinart stand mixer, but wanted another bowl to reduce the need to clean up in the middle of baking. I found this bowl for $100 and more on other sites – and was thrilled to see it at Amazon for such a reasonable price. It’s the genuine item, and it came quickly. If you bake alot – especially multiple batches of the same thing – splurge on this – it will save you time!

I love Amazon, but you can order this directly from Cuisinart delivered for $60 + $10 shipping. I have heard that if you use your stand mixer a lot, that a second mixing bowl is a good investment.

Gonna love this time saver. As Pricey/bill said though, love amazon, but this can be had for $45+ship from Cuisinart directly (800-726-0190), Not cuisinart.com.

I hope this review Helps People Choose this mixer, I bought this mixer for my 4 person family. We are trying to learn to make more home cooked meals and heart healthy and diabetic type’s foods. I like this mixer and so doe she whole family, It’s Nice and all metal Not to heavy but it heavy duty. It has allot of nice features like soft start when pushing power button and it doesn’t just take off if accidently on a higher speed. The mixer turn up its speed slowly but once it up to speed it does a wonderful job. I went to the local store and bought to larger cake mixes and we make a huge double batch and put it all in and ran the mixer and it not only did a great job the cake seemed to bake up fluffier. I think it does a good job.

Mixer is nice has tons of nice features the head locks when you open and close and you can hear it lock, It has Soft Start and a Slow speed up so No splatter, Splash guard with hole on it to add more stuff it Solid one piece. Power cord is not to long perfect for a counter top, and the lid on top is removable not just a swing open. I don’t have any of the attachment yet but in time I will there not that expensive but look like they can take a beating.

First off, given all the awful customer service reviews about Cuisinart, I don’t understand all the comments about their great warranty, expecially in comparison to Kitchenaid’s 1 year warranty. It sounds like you can’t count on any service from Cuisinart, so I discount the warranty completely. For serious sourdough makers, the amount of flour is limited to about half of Cuisinart’s claims. I managed to do a quick mix with closer to 12 cups of flour, but after a few minutes, the dough had climbed over the top of the dough hook guard. I was able to divide the dough in half and mix each half, although the dough did stick to the hook the whole time, just not over the guard. I exchanged it for the 7qt mixer and found the 7 quart capacity not much better even though the bowl is really deep. This time I stopped the machine before it crept over the dough hook guard. Since I’m new to mixers, this doesn’t seem to be just a Cuisinart issue. I’ve read similar capacity issues in Kitchenaid reviews. I imagine flour capacity must be for cookies and cakes and not for dough. My biggest concern with this machine (and the 7qt one) is how long it will last kneading dough a couple or more times a week. Looks like the longest reviewer has only owned this machine a year or so.

My wife and I started our search for a stand mixer by researching many makes and models via the internet. We were also very fortunate to have found a host of product reviews on the subject and are hopeful that the review that we’re writing will help someone who finds themselves in a similar circumstance.

Our problem began one afternoon when my wife decided to knead a batch of bread dough with her hand mixer. After a while I heard her shriek as the little devil proceeded to burn out. I couldn’t believe it but it was true. Now we knew that we needed to something to replace this little hand mixer which we had cherished for more than three years. What to do next, was the question and the answer came over a week later when we decided that what we really needed to solve our dilemma was a stand mixer. But scouring the internet researching the myriad of makes and models only confused us until we decided that we would narrow our search down to two makes: KITCHEN AID and CUISINART! We found a number of families who owned both but the majority who had started with KITCHENAID have since become devotees of CUISINART…We opted for this model because the motor is strong and because of the choice offered in speeds and the timer. We further thought that the price was exceptional compared to what others were offered at. In summary, before buying, do your homework and you should do similarly well! I will mention this in closing, that since starting to use this CUISINART model SM-55 we have experienced no problems and it has been a month now since we received it. We can easily give this great product a 5 star rating. Our lives have changed because of this machine. We feel that we know it and it in turn knows us and that was what we were looking for. Have a nice day and we hope you find a machine that suits your needs. Good luck!

I did weeks of comparative shopping before deciding on which mixer I wanted. Finally after 15 years of wanting I purchased and used my new mixer and I love it!!!
I decided on the Cuisinart after reading the reviews for kitchen-aid and reading so many times about the motor not being able to withstand what I intended to put my mixer through. I make a lot of dog treats which is a very stiff dough to work with. The day I received my mixer I put it to the test with a double batch of dog cookies. It did such a fantastic job I will be tripling my next batch. The only fault about that is my muscles won’t get a workout from stirring anymore!!
The design and look of the brushed chrome was exactly what I wanted. It’s beautiful and fits perfectly under my cabinets. The design and overall appearance is sturdy and strong. The attachments are not plastic which is a huge plus. I do not foresee having any problems with it at all, but will certainly update my review if I notice anything.
I was extremely please with Amazon’s price and delivery of my mixer. Ordered it in the evening and received it before 11am the next day.
