We’ve had several hand mixers over the years, and this one finally really has the power to do some tougher tasks such as mixing organic peanut butter without struggling. It handles well and the swivel cord helps keep the cord out of the frostings etc. Only one complaint…the so-called power/soft start causes a surge right when you least want it, speeding well above the 1 or 2 setting before settling down, so you have to think ahead before shutting it off, removing it from a mix, and restarting it…if you don’t reinsert it in the mix before restarting it, you’ll likely splatter the surrounds, including yourself!
Which stand mixer to buy?
Can some please help me choose one of the two stand cuisinart mixer mixers or suggest another one. I want the best in the market: (1) KitchenAid Artisian Series or (2) Cuisinart SM-55Thanks for all the help everyone!!

I am not sure what folks expect from a $25 stick/wand/immersion blender. I had my old Krups with a plastic base (i.e. you couldn’t blend hot liquids in the pan) for a million years and it got moderate use. Even brand new it never had the “umph” of the Cuisinart. As with the ol’ Krups I use it for blended drinks, aioli, making nut milks, and now, without hesitation, pureeing hot soups (in the pan!) and even whipping cream (with the help of manual whisk, as needed, but it save some time & arm fatigue). I love throwing everything in a tall cup and having a delicious, healthful (generally raw) breakfast or snack in under a minute.
I think it’s all one could hope for and it has already exceeded MY expectations. Easy to clean, compact & easily stored between pots & pans. Hope it proves to be as durable as my other work-horse Cuisinart products.
If you don’t love it Amazon couldn’t be more gracious about returns/exchanges.

I love the way this thing purees everything. It is so nice to be able to snap the end off the motor and put it in the dish water or dishwasher. This is replacing my 20 year old one, that was hard to clean because the end was so small and the cord got in the way.
I am very happy with my SmartStick.

I have owned this for almost a year. I do not use it a lot, but it’s awfully convenient to whip this out rather than take out a blender, mixer, or processor.. thereby avoiding the cleaning, assembly/dissassembly, pouring back and forth, etc added operations. I don’t think I have used my big processor since I bought this! (it would have done it “faster” if there weren’t other steps involved but this is so convenient)
My “plus thoughts” on this are
1. It is quite powerful and churns through pots of stuff pretty quickly, even fairly thick, gooey stuff.
2. While doing this I saw no overheating or slowing down with use.
3. The “snap off” bottom for cleaning is “like WOW!” .. soo easy
4. It is plastic and metal construction, but gives the feeling of sturdiness and heft.. it seems well-made.
5. Personally (and trust me I’m a cheapskate) I find this is a great value purchase!
6. The sturdy little plastic measuring cup is handy and serves as a “parking space” for the unit.
7. It’s small form factor will fit into almost ANY mixing container, and is quick both to grab and to store.
A minor “neg” is that it is so powerful it is a bit like driving a floor polisher.. haha.. it wants to drive itself in the pot.
One might wish for a “battery powered” version, but I can’t imagine a battery-powered one being up to the task in this small form factor. I don’t find the cord to be more than a minor annoyance, and it is long enough to do the job around my kitchen.
There are reports of it not lasting through extensive, daily or commercial use. I cannot speak to this as I am not a heavy user, but the shopper might read through those folk who have had failures to see if it may apply to you.. If it does, buy a “commercial model”. For the money it’s untouchable in my judgement.

I bought this at Sam’s because it was only $14.99. I didn’t really care about power or anything else, just price. My last mixer was a Proctor Silex that I have had for about 12 years. For the price, I wasn’t really expecting much, but WOW!!!! What a great upgrade!! It’s powerful, has a nice flat bottom so I can set it down on the counter, and the beaters are so thin (and don’t have that darn post in the middle) that I didn’t have to scrape tons of mashed potatoes out of them. I love to bake cakes and breads and I will have no problems whipping this little gem out for small jobs. I’m very happy with this purchase and I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

Very simular to the Kitchen-Aide mixer–which worked fine–’till the beaters kept falling out–I hope this will not have that problem–so far it looks good and works very well. Exceptional with mashed potatoes!

I love this mixer! It is very sturdy, easy to clean, and most importantly, it does not spray food all over my kitchen. I guess because the beaters are wires instead of thicker metal. This is the best mixer I have ever owned. I love Cuisinart products!!

I was very excited to order this mixer, after deciding that I would get a high quality hand mixer to hold me over until I made the leap to a stand mixer.
Well, after opening the box, I was greatly dissapointed. The mixer itself felt very cheap. The plastic housing was lighter and more cheap-feeling than my horrible Hamilton Beach mixer I was hoping to replace.
Needless to say, I quickly repackaged the mixer with full intentions of returning it to Amazon.
If I had seen this product in a store, I absolutley would not have paid $70 for it.

These are the best beaters I ever owned. I like the “no splash” start on the number 1 setting and the digital display to advance in increments all the way up to a powerful number 9 setting. Pretty light weight to handle yet very powerful. Does a wonderful job and the self contained see-through storage case is extremely attractive and convenient for storing everything neatly in one place. I highly recommend purchaing this product.
